Morally I cannot sell this to anyone else second hand to recover my costs. I am at a situation that I am thinking of junking it and buying another SAFER brand. I tried reporting it to Whirlpool but somehow they sent the technician today who had no idea where to look. Since past week's incident, I only turn the main power on to use the cooktop. I have remote disabled always so there is definitely a bug in the control panel application.
This is a VERY STRESSFUL and DANGEROUS situation as the panel doesn't respond to my cancel/stop functions and I have to turn the power breaker off. But since past year, I have had 3 incidents when the panel has operated on its own - it started the broiler at high while baking, unlocked itself a couple of times and tried to start the oven functions. The control panel has behaved erratically, it restarts randomly (in middle of baking cycle as well). I keep the sensitive control panel locked at all times as I use the cooktop mostly (not so much the oven).
Control panel malfunctioning! I bought this range 3 years ago and gave 4stars as it's beautiful and easy to maintain.
